And once again the time had come - the world's most important mobility trade fair opened its doors for us again in 2011!

And best of all: this year, under the motto "Future as standard," the topics of "electromobility" and "fuel-saving drives" were among the focal points of the IAA.

Electric mobility even had its own hall dedicated to it for the first time on the huge exhibition grounds. From electric cars to electric scooters and electric bicycles, everything was on display here. Our team had interesting discussions about the future of electromobility and marveled in particular at the first Opel with electric drive that could be ordered.

But what is preventing the rapid spread of electromobility, given all the benefits it offers us?

Here, too, we found answers that now call for solutions. In addition to the rather high acquisition costs, the lack of charging infrastructure is also preventing the rapid spread of electric cars. Once these tasks have been satisfactorily solved, electromobility will find its way out of the niche and into mass production.

In addition to electromobility, our main interest was in the powertrains and in particular the new revolutionary 9-speed automatic transmission. This is installed transversely to the direction of travel and promises not only significantly improved driving performance but also lower fuel consumption and improved shift and response times.
