Successful changeover from EPLAN 5 to EPLAN electric P8

At the beginning of 2008 we set ourselves the ambitious and difficult task to realize various renovations for our current projects

For the creation of the circuit diagrams, the changeover from EPLAN 5 to the extended and improved version EPLAN electric P8 and for the creation of the layout diagrams from MegaCAD to the better software EPLAN eCabinet should take place.

At the same time, we decided to implement the new IEC 61346 and IEC 61355 standards.

In parallel, the central representation of the circuit diagram was transformed into functional groups.

Each functional group of the circuit diagram contains, independently of the entire circuit diagram, its own layout plan, parts list, terminal diagram, cable overview, etc. and is connected to the other groups of the circuit diagram via interfaces.

The flexibility gained in this way means that individual modules can be used for further projects and need to be varied only slightly.

The real 3D views of the layout plans through eCabinet are a great help in project planning for both the project engineers and the switchgear builders due to the detailed visualization.

Today, we can proudly say that the efforts that went into this demanding task have paid off.

Through the successful conversion, we offer new flexibility for the highest demands. All changes are based not least on making data better prepared and more easily accessible for our customers.

The query of the data is more flexible and the detailed representation enables a precise procedure.

This enables faster realization and better transparency of the plans, which not least means cost and time savings for our customers and optimizes workflows there.
