At the Baltic Open in Darmstadt from August 25 to 27, 2012 Day of Networks - Innovation and Electromobility Project Group.

As a cooperative event of the networks "Automation Region Rhine Main Neckar" and "Electromobility Darmstadt Rhine Main Neckar", the working group "Shipping and Logistics", the company network "IT for work" as well as the "Automotive Cluster Rhine Main Neckar", the day of the networks offered the companies the opportunity to inform themselves about the advantages of a cooperation with competitors, to establish contacts and to exchange information across networks.

After an exciting introduction to the topic of the day, the participants were able to listen to various presentations and find out more about the "Competencies of the Engineering Region" and electric cars in an exhibition.

CuroCon GmbH exhibited the company's electric cars, the Opel Ampera and the Renault Kangoo with built-in mobile measurement technology, on the grounds of the Chamber of Commerce in Darmstadt.

Michael Wißbach gave the presentation about the Automotive Cluster Rhein Main Neckar and about his project circle as head of the project circle Innovation.

He gave the audience an insight into the work and innovative ideas of the Innovation Project Group. These include, for example, measures to improve the comfort of using electric cars. If our future is to be electric, the possibilities for convenient charging must first be expanded and improved, for example, through automatic charging or changing the battery at battery changing stations.

"In the future, people will be able to drive electric cars without worrying about how the energy gets into the vehicle." - That is one of the goals being worked toward in the Innovation project group.

Following the presentations, various company visits were offered. CuroCon GmbH visited Continental's plant in Babenhausen. The plant is known for the production of tachometers and is characterized above all by a high vertical range of manufacture. In small groups we experienced an interesting guided tour through the different areas of the company and got an insight into the complex production of a tachometer. We were impressed by the automated systems with cycle times of just 0.7 seconds for the production of a coil for the drive of a pointer instrument.

At the following barbecue, more detailed discussions could be held and deepened.

For CuroCon GmbH, all expectations of the Networking Day were fulfilled: The advantages of cooperation between companies in the same or a similar field were made clear, new contacts were made, but above all, extremely interesting and informative discussions about electromobility, the unique measurement technology in the Renault Kangoo and also about powertrain and vehicle simulations resulted.
